This issue was raised during the previous retreat program by the MMU Management. The Management said, there is a suggestion on removing the attendance system, as a contrast of what been practiced now.
What does all these means? It means that, all lecturers wont take any attendance in the class, at all. This issue was pointed, due to, the other established university in the world, such as Harvard University, does not take attendance for their students. Means, more laissez faire (freedom) been granted to the students. (You can click this to know more details about laissez faire)
On the other hand, it means, the students have the rights whether to attend the class or not. Its all up to them. The responsibilties lies on their shoulders as the are supposingly, matured enough to think of their future. Of course, the move do have implications.
The pros:
1 - The students have more laissez faire. They can choose on their own.
2 - Less hasle, less papers used to jot-down the attendance. Yet save time and environment.
3 - Train the students to be much discipline, on their own.
The cons:
1- The students might take this move for granted. Thus, they wont attend and yet they didnt study at home. Thus, they might failed.
2- The Malaysia's Immigration Department, wants to have a record on international students, yet, the existing system can trace them, whether they use the permit (or passport) to study (attend classes) or to do something that not been permitted.
3- How does the barring system process can be decided ? Or, does the barring system been demolished as well, as its related directly to the attendance ? We will discuss this later ...
This is ONLY a suggestion and its still been study, in terms of implementation. What do you think ?

不及格率也许会跟着增加。。
